Vlogger (video blogger) Nat Tran, from Sydney, Australia, is perhaps not only one of Down Under’s premiere entertainers, but also one of the Web’s best known, and widely followed, stars. With over 263 videos available on YouTube, she is 26th most subscribed all time, and 7th most subscribed director. In her home country of Australia, she is #1. The lovely Ms. Tran will be 25 in July of this year (2011). She created her first video at age 20, in 2006. With both parents refugees from Vietnam, she grew up in Sydney, and studied digital media at the University of New South Wales.

Tran has collected more than 850,000 subscribers and has had over 330 million views of her videos, most of which are characterized by her off-beat, yet creative, comedy. She was one of YouTube’s Australian celebrities invited to speak about the site at the launch of YouTube Australia in 2007. In 2010, she was ranked #10 of top ten earners from YouTube advertising by TubeMogul, an analytics firm. In November of that same year, she started a series of short films on Lonely Planet, chronicling her travels. She has also produced more serious work with her responses to the February 2009 Victorian brushfires. She was nominated “Best YouTube Channel or Personality,” as well as “Funniest YouTube Channel” in Mashable’s 2009 Open Web Awards.

Nat’s productions generally involve observational monologues laced with self-deprecating humor, and social dilemma commentary. She plays multi-roles in her skits, highlighting her comedic abilities and skills; from how much money to spend on friends gifts to appropriate telephone etiquette. She has dialogued with such famous characters as the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus, and even the Tooth Fairy.

The wonderful thing about blogging is that almost any subject is good. If you can find something you feel passionate about, some issue you feel strongly towards, and you wish to tell your feelings and thoughts to the world concerning, that is a good blog. I’m not really sure what “cms” is (Content Management System? Chicago Manual Style?), but if you’ll help me understand what you mean I’ll happily share my thoughts. Many thanks for dropping by and commenting.

She’s good; I like the video where she was wearing nothing but a towel… it is innovative through talking to yourself…

She’s quite the fox (do people even still say that?), and super-talented. This was the first for singling out an individual for highlighting in The Social Media Entertainment Series; if it gets good response, I’m thinking of doing another about this professional English writer guy I know… he’s quite talented also, and may bring me over to help out w/ negotiations on his latest publication efforts. Plus, he promised to show me Buckingham Palace. 😉
